Nolichucky River Wall Map

**Special Note: Maps ordered between January 15 and 30 will be fulfilled February 4th**
The Nolichucky River is born amongst the tallest mountains east of the Mississippi River. Mount Mitchell and Roan Mountain form steep rivulets, growing to create the Toe and Cane Rivers. The confluence of these waterways create the mighty Nolichucky near the community of Poplar, North Carolina. From Poplar to Erwin, the Nolichucky tightens and steepens, weaving its way through the rugged Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests. The river’s natural beauty and cultural history have inspired a grassroots movement to designate the Nolichucky River Gorge as the region’s next Wild & Scenic River.

The National Wild & Scenic Rivers System was created by the U.S. Congress in 1968 to preserve certain rivers with outstanding natural, cultural, and recreational values in a free-flowing condition for the enjoyment of present and future generations. Designation would ensure the Nolichucky is never dammed nor diverted and that its special scenic and recreational values will remain untarnished.

This map was created to inspire interest in the Nolichucky River and the associated Wild & Scenic campaign. Prints are being sold to support the effort. Hang it on your wall, post it in public, plan a river trip, scout a hike, mail it to your congressional representatives, give it as a gift, etc. It details the river's course through Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests, displaying access points, rapids and regional topographic features, along with local trails and roads. The map measures 12 x 18 inches, is printed on high-quality matte paper, and is being sold for $10.00 (if picked up locally from Jack in the western North Carolina area, $15 for a shipped product).
